The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (Pilot Project) 2024-25 was launched by the central government of India to provide internship opportunities to the youth of the country. The scheme has been launched under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, to provide working internships to the youth. Through this scheme, lakhs of unemployed youth and about 500 corporate companies will be brought together. Young individuals aged between 21 and 24 years can enrol for internship opportunities in the top 500 companies in India. Interns will get the opportunity to learn the know-how of working for these companies and gain practical knowledge. About 1.25 lakhs of internship opportunities are available in the first cycle of the scheme across 25 sectors.

PM Internship Scheme Launch Date
The Prime Minister Internship Flagship Scheme was launched on October 12, 2024, by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. The scheme will be operational for the five years from Financial Year 2024-25 to Financial Year 2028-29 and will provide internship opportunities to 1 crore young individuals during the period. It encompasses all young boys and girls who are aged between 21 and 24 and have necessary educational qualifications.
Objectives of PM Internship Scheme Assam 2024
After the launch of the PM Internship Scheme by the central government, the Assam state government also operationalised the same to gain the benefits of vacancies provided for the state in the scheme. A total of 3523 vacant seats have been reserved for the youth of Assam, which will provide internship opportunities to its youth. With the help of this scheme, young girls and boys in Assam will be able to join the program and learn the working process of big corporate companies. These opportunities will help the youth spend time in the real-world working environment of top companies and learn new techniques and skills that will eventually earn them employment opportunities.

Ineligibility Criteria
Candidates who come under one of the following conditions are not eligible for the internship program.
- Age is either below 21 years or above 24 years.
- Have undertaken a full-time employment or a full-time education course.
- Graduated from reputed institutes of India such as IITs, IIMs, National Law Universities, IISER, NIDs, or IIITs.
- Having a higher qualification such as CA, CMA, CS, MBBS, BDS, MBA, PhD, or any master’s or higher degree (recognised by the UGC).
- Currently engaged in any skill, apprenticeship, internship, or training program under a Central or State Government scheme.
- Already completed an apprenticeship under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) or National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS).
- Family income is more than INR 8.00 lacs per annum.
- Any of the family members is employed as a permanent or regular government employee (excluding contractual employees).
- “Government” includes Central and State Governments, Union Territory administrations, Central and State Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), statutory organizations, and local bodies

To be eligible, candidates are required to fulfil the minimum educational qualification criteria. The applicants are required to have one of the following educational status.
- A certificate from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI)

Every registered candidate will have five internship opportunities in each cycle of PM Internship Scheme Assam. One is required to select the opportunities best suited to their skills, knowledge, and experience. In case a candidate is not provided the opportunities in one cycle, he/she may opt for the next cycle and then select the opportunities again.
Employment Scope
This scheme is only for internships, and the government does not guarantee employment opportunities after successfully completing the internship program. However, it is up to the partner company in which the intern is working to select the interns for employment.
PM Internship Scheme Assam Registration Process
- Candidates of Assam State who are eligible can proceed with the online registration process at the Official Internship Scheme Portal.
- On doing so, the home page of the official portal will open on your screen.
- On the home page, tap on the Youth Registration option, and a pop-up will appear on your screen.
- Provide your Aadhar-linked mobile number, provide confirmation, and click Submit.
- An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number, which you have to provide in the designated field and click Submit again.
- Next, a consent box will appear, which you have to tick and click on the Agree button.
- A card will appear on your screen in which you have to provide your password details.
- In the current password field, provide the password received on your mobile number
- Enter your new password and confirm it by re-entering and clicking Submit.
