About the PM Internship Scheme 2024
The Prime Minister Internship Scheme has been launched by the central government under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on October 3, 2024. The scheme aims to enable young boys and girls to register and get internship opportunities in the major 500 companies of India. Young individuals aged between 21 and 24 can do registration and enrol for an internship. This scheme aims to provide one crore youth internship opportunities during 5 years of scheme duration.
Under it, young individuals will also receive monthly financial support from the central government. A monthly sum of INR 5,000 will be granted to each intern during the internship period. Eligibility Criteria
- Citizenship: Candidates must be an Indian citizen.
- Age: Age of the applicant should be between 21 and 24 (Both Inclusive)
- The candidate must not have undertaken a full-time education or employment.
- However, candidates enrolled in an online/distance/correspondence course are eligible.
Mandatory Qualification
To do PM Internship Scheme Registration, one must ensure that they own the necessary qualifications mandated by the government. Candidates must have qualification such as having Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or its equivalent, Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or its equivalent, or hold a certificate from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI), a diploma from a Polytechnic Institute, or a graduation degree such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Pharma, etc.
Ineligibility conditions
Candidates falling under one of the following are not eligible for PM Internship Scheme Registration.
- Age is below 21 or above 24.
- Having undertaken a full-time employment or educational course.
- Have studied in India’s reputed institutions such as IITs, IIMs, National Law Universities, IISER, NIDs, or IIITs.
- Having the highest level of qualification, such as CA, CMA, CS, MBBS, BDS, MBA, PhD, or any master’s or higher degree recognised by the UGC.
- Having already undertaken a skill, apprenticeship, internship, or training program under a Central or State Government scheme.
- Already done apprenticeship under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) or National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS).
- Family income is more than INR 8.00 lakh (income calculation for 2023-24).
- Any of the family members is a government servant.

Benefits and Features
PM Internship will provide multiple benefits to candidates. Benefits of the scheme encompass financial support, certificates, and insurance coverage. Financial support
- A sum of INR 5,000 will be credited to the bank account of each intern.
- The money will be credited every month to interns.
- Out of this much amount, INR 500 will be provided by the partner company, and the rest, INR 4500, will be given by the central government.
Completion certificate
The partner company will issue a certificate to recognise the interns who successfully complete the internship course. The certificate will be issued only when the interns complete the program successfully.
Insurance Coverage
Each intern will get insurance coverage from the central government. Interns will be provided coverage under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY). The coverage will be provided to them only for the internship duration.

Candidates can register themselves for internships for the first cycle of the scheme, i.e., FY 2024–25. PM Internship Scheme Registration can be done by visiting the official portal before the last date. See below the entire process required to do PM Internship Scheme Registration.
- Go to the official website (pminternship.gov.in) of the PM Internship Scheme.
- The home page of the website will open on your screen.
- On the top right corner, click on the Youth Registration option.
- A pop-up card will appear on the screen.
- Fill in your Aadhar-linked active mobile number, tick the confirmation box, and click Submit.
- You will receive an OTP on your phone number.
- Fill in a one-time password in the designated field and click Submit.
- A new pop-up will appear on your screen.
- Next, tick the consent box and press the Agree button to proceed further.
- On the next screen, you have to update your password.
- The password pop-up shall have three fields: (1) Current Password, (2) New Password, and (3) Confirm New Password.
- In the current password field, enter the password received on your registered phone number.
- You have to create a strong new password and confirm it by re-entering.
- After all fields are filled with required information, click Submit to update your password.
- Your PM Internship Scheme Registration is complete, and now you can proceed with the next step, which is to create a profile.
Post-registration Process
If you have completed your PM Internship Scheme Registration, you can move on to create your profile at the portal. The process involves following steps.
- eKYC: This process is mandatory for all candidates. You have to complete the e-KYC process through Aadhar authentication on the Digilocker portal. You can perform this process either using a mobile phone or desktop.
- Personal Details: You are required to fill in all mandatory fields with required information in this section of profile creation. Information about your mother/father/parents name, category, address, etc. needs to be filled out properly.
- Contact Details: This section requires your mobile number and email ID to be filled out and verified with a one time password.
- Educational Details: In this section, candidates are required to provide all necessary information regarding their educational qualification. Besides, uploading of related documents is also required.
- Bank Details: This section is composed of fields such as bank account number, IFSC code, and consent in Yes or No for whether your bank account is Aadhar Seeded or not. If yes, your bank account will be automatically fetched by the system. If no is your answer, then you need to request your bank for your bank account to be Aadhar seeded first. This is required before the 15th of November 2024.
