This scheme is aimed at providing financial support to small and marginal farmers in India. With the help of this scheme, the central government supports farmers with INR 6,000 annually. The benefit is transferred directly into the bank accounts of farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Each farmer receives INR 2,000 per installment every 4 months in a financial year. Objectives of PM Kisan
PM Kisan provides financial benefits to farmers, enabling them to fulfil their small requirements related to farming work. Under it, farmers of the country receive a total of INR 6,000 in a financial year. This amount is helpful for them to carry on agriculture operations even if they lack finance. With the help of this scheme, farmers can easily manage expenditures related to seeds, fertilisers, irrigation, etc. during crop seasons. Release of Installments
PM Kisan installments are released every four months in a financial year. The cycle of four months starts in April in a financial year. - PM Kisan is applicable across all states and union territories in India.
- All small and marginal farmers are eligible to apply for PM Kisan.

Who are not eligible?
Farmers having high economic status and belonging to one of the following categories are not eligible to apply and get benefits under PM Kisan.
- All institutional land holders.
- Farmer families with one or more of their family members in one of the following are not eligible:
- Former and present holders of constitutional posts
- Former and present Ministers/State Ministers and former/present Members of Parliament, State Legislative Assemblies, and State Legislative Councils.
- Former and present mayors of municipal corporations.
- Former and present Chairpersons of District Panchayats.
- All serving or retired officers and employees of Central/State Government Ministries/Offices/Departments and its field units, Central or State PSEs, and Attached offices/Autonomous Institutions under Government, as well as regular employees of the local bodies (excluding multitasking staff, Class IV/Group D employees).
- Government pensioners receiving INR 10,000 or more per month from pension (excluding multitasking staff, Class IV/Group D employees) of the above category.
- Income tax payee
- Professionals like doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants, architects, etc. who are registered with professional bodies and doing practices.

Farmers can complete the registration process online by visiting the official portal at pmkisan.gov.in. The registration process involves some easy steps that can be done using a mobile phone or desktop. One may follow the below given steps in order to complete the registration process successfully.
- Go to the official website of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme at pmkisan.gov.in.
- The home page of the website will appear on your screen.
- On the home page, click on the New Farmer Registration option available on the top right corner.
- The registration card will appear on your screen.
- Now, select either Rural Farmer Registration or Urban Farmer Registration as per your residential status.
- Enter your Aadhar number, enter your mobile number, select your state, fill in the captcha code, and click on the Get OTP button.
- You will receive a one-time password on your phone.
- Enter the OTP in the designated space and click Submit.
- On the next page, fill in mandatory details and complete the registration process.
- After successful registration, take a printout for further necessary action.

- You will reach the home page.

- Under this section, click on Status of Self-Registered Farmers/CSC Farmers.
- On the next page, provide your Aadhar number, fill in the captcha code, and click Search.

Know Your Registration Number
If you have done your registration using the official portal and did not get your registration number. You can follow the below-given steps to find out your registration number easily. It involves a few steps detailed below.
- Visit the official portal at pmkisan.gov.in.
- The home page will open on your screen.
- Scroll the home page a little bit, and you will find the Farmers Corner section.
- Among the given options, click on Know Your Status.
- On the next screen, click on Know Your Registration Number.
- On the next page, you can get your registration number by using your registered mobile number or Aadhar number.
- Enter the information (either your Aadhar number or mobile number), fill in the captcha code, and click on Get OTP.
- Next, enter the OTP received on your phone and click Submit.
- Your registration number will show on the screen.
Updation of self-registered farmers
Farmers who have completed the registration process online using the portal can make corrections and update important information on the portal. This will include a few steps given below.
- Go to the official portal of PM Kisan by visiting pmkisan.gov.in
- Scroll the home page and click on Updation of Self-Registered Farmers under the Farmers Corner.
- On the next screen, enter your Aadhar number, fill in the captcha code, and click on the Search button.
- Now you may proceed with the necessary update on the portal.
Application Process (Offline)
You can proceed with application submission for the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme offline. For the purpose, you have to do the following process.
- Take the printout of necessary documents and go to the Gram Panchayat office, urban local body office, / common service centre (CSC).
- Request the concerned staff/operators for application submission under PM Kisan.
- The staff will take the necessary action and proceed with further steps.
- The staff will open the PM Kisan Window and fill in the application form.
- Details like your personal, landholding, bank details, contact details, etc. will be entered into the application form.
- After that, the upload of the necessary documents will be done.
- Once the above steps are done, the application will be saved and payment will be done.
- CSC can charge you a nominal fee of INR 50 rupees.
- After payment is done, your application will be submitted successfully.
- Get a printout of your filled-out application for future reference.
Post Application Process
- The submitted application will be verified for the given information, and documents will be verified from the government database.
- Once everything is done, the application will be accepted or rejected.
- The applicant will receive notification regarding this on their phone.
- Applicants whose application is approved will start receiving installments from the next cycle.
e-KYC Process
e-KYC is a mandatory process required for each beneficiary of PM Kisan Yojana. This was mandated by the central government to provide benefits directly to the intended beneficiaries without the involvement of any middlemen. Three different processes can be undertaken in order to complete the e-KYC process at the pmkisan portal. They are (1) OTP-based e-KYC, (2) Biometric-Based e-KYC, and (3) Face Authentication-Based e-KYC. See below how different e-KYC processes can be completed one by one.
OTP-Based e-KYC on pmkisan.gov.in
For this, farmers are required to have their Aadhar linked to their mobile number. The process involves following steps.
- Visit the official website of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi at pmkisan.gov.in.
- The home page will reflect on your device.
- On the top right corner, click on e-KYC
- On the next page, enter your Aadhar number and click Search.
- Now click on the Send OTP button, and you will receive an OTP on your phone.
- Enter the one-time password received on your phone and click Submit.
- Your e-KYC will be completed by following the above steps.
Biometric-Based e-KYC
For biometric-based e-KYC, one can visit the designated Common Service Centres (CSCs) or State Seva Kendras (SSKs). More than 4 lakh common service centres have been facilitated to do e-KYC based on biometric authentication across the country. For the purpose, farmers can do the following process.
- Visit the nearest CSC or SSK with your Aadhar Card and Aadhar-linked mobile number.
- Talk to the operator to do e-KYC.
- The operator will open the official portal with his/her account credentials.
- Your finger print will be taken on the scanner and matched with the government database.
- Once fingerprint authentication is complete, you are done with your e-KYC.
- Get a printout of your e-KYC document from the operator.
Note: The CSC operator may charge you Rs. 15 for doing e-KYC.
Face Authentication-Based eKYC
Farmers can complete Face Authentication-Based e-KYC on their own. This process requires downloading the PM Kisan mobile app and performing face authentication through the mobile. The process involves following steps.
- Download the PM Kisan Mobile Application from the Google Play Store.
- Open the app and login with your registered mobile number.
- Next, go to the Beneficiary Status section on the app.
- Here, you will find your e-KYC either yes or no.
- In case it shows no, you have to click on the eKYC.
- On the next screen, enter your Aadhar number and provide consent to scan your face.
- Once your face scanning is successfully done, your eKYC is completed.
How to check Beneficiary List
Farmers can check the beneficiary list on pmkisan.gov.in by providing some basic information. To check the beneficiary list, you need to do the following steps.
- Go to the official portal at pmkisan.gov.in.
- You will reach the home page of the website.
- Scroll the home page, and you will see the Farmers Corner section.
- Among given options, click on the Beneficiary List option.
- On the next page, select your state, district, sub-district, block, and village.
