The government of Uttar Pradesh has initiated the UP Sanskrit Scholarship Scheme to provide benefits to Sanskrit students by supporting them with direct financial assistance. The state has launched the scheme to encourage Sanskrit education and revitalise the ancient Gurukul system in Uttar Pradesh. The Sanskrit Scholarship Scheme will provide scholarships to students from pre-matric to post-matric who pursue Sanskrit studies. The chief minister Yogi Adityanath himself launched the scheme and distributed scholarships to some of the Sanskrit students. Launch of UP Sanskrit Scholarship Scheme 2025
Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath launched the Sanskrit Scholarship Scheme Uttar Pradesh on October 28, 2024 in an event at the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University in Varanasi. In the event, the honourable chief minister highlighted the importance of the Sanskrit language and expressed happiness over the initiation of the scholarship program. All students enrolled in Sanskrit institutions following the ancient Gurukul system will receive scholarship benefits under the UP Sanskrit Scholarship Scheme. An estimated 69,000 students will benefit from this scheme initially. To avail of the scheme benefits, students will be required to follow the guidelines of their respective Gurukuls.

Aims and Objectives
Sanskrit is the most ancient language in the world that is said to have been spoken by gods and the language had been extensively used to write ancient Indian scriptures, including the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, the Vedas, the Upanishads and works of Kalidas. In spite of it being a scientific language, it did not get much concern after 2000. In order to revive Gurukul culture and to promote the Sanskrit language in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has initiated the UP Sanskrit Scholarship Scheme. With the help of this scheme, now more students will receive the scholarship grants and will be able to continue their education in Sanskrit without worrying about financial crunch.

Eligibility Criteria
- The students should be enrolled in a Sanskrit Gurukul in Uttar Pradesh.
- The Sampurnananda Sanskrit University should affiliate with the aforementioned Gurukul or institution.
- 69,156 students will initially receive the scholarship benefits.
- It will be mandatory for a student to follow the guidelines of their Sanskrit institution and clear the annual examination.

Application Process for UP Sanskrit Scholarship Scheme
- All applicants are required to fill out the application form through their respective institution and submit the application form to the Pramukh Acharya.
- The Pramukh Acharya will then verify the details and forward the application to the next channel.
- On successful verification of each piece of information the application will be approved and the concerned student will start receiving the scholarship benefits in his/her bank account.
UP Sanskrit Scholarship Scheme: Apply Online 2025
- After the launch of the UP Sanskrit Scholarship Scheme it is estimated that the UP government will soon launch a dedicated portal or integrate this scheme with the state scholarship portal of Uttar Pradesh.
- The students will then be required to visit the official scholarship portal and submit their online applications for the Sanskrit Scholarships.
- This requires creating an account on the official portal and submitting their application online with supporting documents.
- After the above steps are completed the students will be required to take a printout and submit the same to their respective Sanskrit school or college.
- The candidates’ bank accounts will receive the scholarship amount directly.
